New Technology to Keep Sport Horses Injury Free

TrojanTrack, a new AI-powered gait analysis tool, is seeking racing yards to join its trial phase ahead of it’s launch. Developed by biomedical engineer Stephen O’Dwyer, the technology uses just a smartphone camera and tripod to capture a horse’s movement and detect early signs of injury risk—no wearables or sensors required.

The system analyzes gait patterns using a neural network trained to identify anatomical landmarks. It flags subtle asymmetries that often go unnoticed during visual assessments, giving trainers daily, objective insights into a horse’s soundness.

Unlike traditional gait monitoring tools that rely on expensive, lab-based equipment, TrojanTrack is fast, affordable, and designed for use in busy training yards. Racing yards that take part in the trial will receive free access to the app in exchange for feedback and usage data.

TrojanTrack offers a scalable solution to reduce racehorse injuries through proactive, data-driven care—enhancing both welfare and performance.
